“Cake Lady” How I Became the
I’ve always loved to bake, and I’ve never been afraid to try a new recipe or tweak an old one to get it “just right.” Even so, when
I was working full time I would often just buy
cakes at a bakery or grocery store for special
occasions. When I became a stay-at-home mom,
I made the time to bake homemade delicious
goodies that my family preferred.
One year, my son asked if I could make him a
race car cake for his third birthday. When he
looked at me with those big, brown puppy dog
eyes I knew I had to try!
I went to our local Hobby Lobby and purchased
a Wilton 3D car pan, a few piping tips, frosting
bags, and some gel colors. I was unsure if I could
make the finished product look like what I was
envisioning, but I knew he’d love it either way.
I found that decorating came quite naturally to
me. After that successful first venture, I started
making fun cakes for family gatherings/holiday
parties, and slowly other people began asking if I
would bake for their special events. As simple as
it sounds, it really just grew from there.
