If I had to choose one word to describe twenty-two-year-old Olivia Atherton, that would be a challenge.
Perhaps it would be hardworking. After
all, she holds down three jobs and works
six days a week. Or, it could be
determined, for she sets goals and strives to
reach them, day after day. Blessed would
be my third word choice. Olivia has
truly been blessed—with a large, tight-knit family who raised her to be the
young woman she is. Her sisters are her
best friends and she has a great support
network. I just don’t think it’s possible
to sum up Olivia in one word, though,
for she is all three (as well as
goal-orient-ed, driven, and entrepreneurial).
Molly Green Magazine sits on four
foundational pillars: HOMEsteading,
HOMEkeeping, HOMEschooling, and
HOMEindustry. Olivia, an Indiana
homesteader, not only fits into all four
pillars, she’s thriving in them.
“I’m where I’m at and done what I’ve
done because God provided. He gives
me strength every day to live this
lifestyle, because without His help I
wouldn’t be here. There are times I am
so tired that I think I can’t keep going,
but I can as long as I keep Him first.”
That pretty much sums up my conversation with Olivia.
